Earlier this year, Xiaomi announced its Redmi as an independent brand. The brand used to focus on entry-level and mid-range smartphones. That’s what we thought too.
The Redmi 2 Pro, which was initially expected to a mid-range phone might turn out to be the company’s flagship when it launches.
A Redmi smartphone named Redmi Pro 2 has leaked online. The Redmi Pro 2 has surfaced online on the Chinese microblogging website, Weibo, which reveals that the device will have a pop-up front-facing camera and it does not feature a notch on top of the display which is similar to what we’ve seen on the Vivo V15 Pro and Oppo F11 Pro.
Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun was recently seen using the phone that matches the said description. The text from the render reveals the handset will have an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is another first for the Redmi brand. It might come in new gradient colors and pack a massive battery unit in-line with other Redmi phones.
Given the brand’s two contradicting statements about the flagship in a short time span, we wouldn’t keep our hopes too high either at the moment. Let’s see what Redmi unfolds in the future.
