Snapchat, a favorite multimedia messaging platform has faced its fair share of problems previously. The Android version of its application has always been complained about not being on par with the performance of its iOS counterpart. While the app was fairly stable and easy to work with on the latter, the former faced a lot of lags and continuous slowdowns which resulted in a sub-par experience.
The company has freshly announced a new, rebuilt version of its Android application which promises a more refined, lag-free user experience. The company has been rewriting from the ground up since the beginning of 2018 to bring performance for the Android version up to par with the iOS app.
While there are virtually no changes to the actual UI or navigation for Snapchat, the new app should be faster, less laggy, and less buggy than the old version.

Snapchat VP of product Jacob Andreou said:
“With this new foundation I wouldn’t be surprised if you actually see things starting to come to Android even before iOS sometimes, Android will be becoming a place where we are really testing our latest and greatest stuff which has definitely not been the case historically.”
The new app is designed to factor in things like the huge Android ecosystem, with its wide breadth of hardware particularly for cameras and processors, that means that different phones can have widely differing capabilities.
Snapchat is one of the most popular mobile apps around and Android is the biggest mobile platform, so it’s important for Snapchat’s Android app to work well if Snap Inc. wants to keep users and continue to grow.
