Samsung had launched Galaxy A8s in China last year in December with Android 8.1 (Oreo) operating system. Now the smartphone has received a stable Android Pie update in the country.
Sammobile reports that the update also brings April 2019 security patch to the device. The update is rolled out over-the-air. A detailed changelog of the new firmware is currently unavailable, but it should bring in One UI to the Galaxy A8s, the report says.
The One UI features newly designed controls at the bottom with a larger search box or text. Apart from this, users will be able to use new gesture controls, a new pill-shaped icon for navigations, refined notifications, and Quick Settings, vertical volume controls and new power menu among others.
To recall the specs, the Samsung Galaxy A8s features a 6.39-inch display with a full-HD+ screen, 2340×1080 resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone features a triple camera setup of 24-megapixel with LED flash, f/1.7 aperture, 5-megapixel with an f/2.2 depth camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. At the front, there is a 24-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC with Adreno 616 GPU, paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 512GB). The handset features a 3,400mAh battery with adaptive fast charging.
